Shares of the Nasdaq 100 rose Friday, with Yahoo Inc. leading the technology-heavy index's gainers.
The Nasdaq 100, which includes 100 of the largest nonfinancial securities listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market, rose 2.19 points to 2,000.92. The broader Nasdaq composite added 1.12 points to 2,602.18.
Shares of search engine operator Yahoo extended Thursday's gains and added $1.01, or 4.3 percent, to $24.73.
BEA Systems Inc. gained 49 cents, or 3.8 percent, to $13.25, as Carl Icahn disclosed a stake in the company.
XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. rose 42 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $14.84.
On the losing side, Intuitive Surgical Inc. lost $7.14, or 3.2 percent, to $214.
Millicom International Cellular SA, a wireless telecommunications services company, declined $2.24, or 3 percent, to $72.71.
Nvidia Corp. lost 98 cents, or 3 percent, to $32.25, reversing Thursday's gains.
